Day One // 14th June 2019
Today you will be transferred from your home address to Sydney International Airport where you will take your overnight flight to Rarotonga.

Day Two // 14th June 2019

Rarotonga is the hub of the Cook Islands; it has so much to see and do, yet remains very unspoilt. No traffic lights, no McDonald’s and no building taller than a coconut tree! We will be staying at the Pacific Beach Resort and we have organized an early check in, so that your rooms are available as soon as you arrive. Authentically boutique, the Pacific Resort Rarotonga is superbly situated on 5.5 acres of manicured beachfront. They offer a 4-star plus service with an intimate collection of just 64 rooms, suites and villas. Each room is tastefully decorated in a contemporary Polynesian style overlooking either the flourishing tropical gardens or the gorgeous white sands of Muri Beach and lagoon.

Spend the day relaxing and unwinding before discovering the island for yourself. Explore it’s historical & scenic sites, learn about the growth and cultivation of the black pearls and hear about the unique aspects the Cook Islands life. No day is complete in the Cook Islands without an afternoon swim at a beautiful island beach.

Day Three // 15th June 2019
This morning we make our way to the waterfront next to Rarotonga’s main township, to go to the Punanga Nui Cultural Market. A ‘must do’ for visitors to the Cook Islands, it is quite a cultural representation of all the islands – even to the point that a few of the retail huts are run by the outer islands. Fresh fruit, veggies and fish, island food, live and recorded island music, clothing, handicrafts, black pearls, jewellery, massage, art works, second-hand books, pastries… just about everything is available at the Market! Enjoy lunch at the waterfront before having the afternoon at leisure.

Day Four // 16th June 2019
Today we’ll visit a local historic Church for Sunday service. It is often a moving experience, as we hear a whole congregation filling the beautiful historic limestone and coral church with the soaring harmonies of their hymn singing. The rest of our day is free to relax. This is a great opportunity to relax by the pool, read a book, snorkel off the beach or involve yourself in one of our resorts complimentary activities.

Day Five // 17th June 2019
This morning you will have the opportunity to visit a local school. Meet the children and interact in their classroom to experience their way of learning. Later, you will board Captain Tama’s Lagoon cruise to view wonderful marine life. Cruise through the lagoon in a glass bottom boat, followed by time to swim and snorkel. Afterwards we will have a beach BBQ on an uninhabited motu (island).

Tonight, you will enjoy a progressive dinner – which is a great evening to meet the locals. Enjoy an entrée at one family’s home, main at another, and dessert somewhere else!

Day Six // 18th June 2019
Today you will discover magnificent King Tinomana’s life story and hidden mountain village, brought to life by his descendants. Your local guides will showcase their spiritual past and present, ancient legends and practices. Visit the ancient village of Tinomana Enuarurutini Ariki, who left this settlement during the 1830’s when he and his people converted to Christianity.

Explore the Ancient Sacred Marae, Navigators Rock and he Maungaroa Learning Centre – which features a historical and contemporary collection of art, crafts and artefacts. Tonight, enjoy a two course meal at Rarotonga’s delightful eatery, owned by former Flame Tree restaurateur and cookbook author Sue Carruthers. Housed in a colonial building on the Pacific Ocean foreshore at Tupapa, this is a great way to end our day in Raratonga.

Day Seven // 19th June 2019
A 4WD Safari adventure will take us to discover the heart of Rarotonga today. Learn about the life on the island as you climb the unbeaten tracks, see panoramic vistas and explore the scenic back country roads in your 4WD Jeep with colorful commentary. After lunch we will continue exploring, but this time along the ‘artist trail’. The Cook Islands is a land of artists – whether they are dancing or singing, carving or composing – their lives and their history have always relied on artistic expression to tell their stories.

Tonight savour some true Cook Island flavours and enjoy a performance of song, dance and fire dancing! Dressed in traditional costume, watch as these fascinating traditional dancers take you on a mesmerizing journey through the South Pacific. Watch while the warrior men dance with fire to the upbeat rhythm of Pacifica drums, as the Cook Island women move gracefully singing in sweet harmony. You can even give it a go yourself! What a night to end our journey through the Cook Islands. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day Eight // 20th June 2019
This morning will be at leisure before enjoying a farewell lunch.

You will then be transferred to the airport for your flight home to Sydney.

Day Nine // 21st June 2019
(We have crossed back over the international date line)

We will arrive into Sydney in the late afternoon, and once we have collected luggage – you will be transferred to your home address in Newcastle.
